Exploring Angles with Microworlds and Circular Reasoning

I spoke at three NCTM conferences in fhe fall of 2005.

The talks addressed elementary school children's well-documented difficulties in comparing, measuring, drawing and describing angles. I will describe the use of Montessori-inspired (mostly computer-based) activities that address these difficulties and resulted in significant gains in performance on selected NAEP geometry questions for a group of third and fourth graders.
